I was in a vehicle collision and had no Idea what to do. Mr. Gato was referred to me by a friend and it was the best choice I could have ever made. Mike fought hard for me to get what I was owed. He constantly updated me and had his employees reach out to me frequently to check on my status, my health and overall well being. Not being a fan of lawyers Mike completely changed my mind of how lawyers are supposed to be. He treated me like I mattered and made sure I was always up to date. I would highly recommend Mike for any of your legal services. I hopefully won’t need another lawyer, but if I do Mike will be the first person I call. Thanks again Mike. Awesome Job by you and your staff.

Highly Recommend Michael Gatto and His Team We had an incredibly positive experience working with Michael Gatto and his team on a medical malpractice case. From the very beginning, we found Michael to be trustworthy, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about the law. What really stood out was the excellent communication—he and his team kept us informed every step of the way, always taking the time to explain things clearly and in a way that was easy to understand. The entire staff was helpful, efficient, and responsive. We always felt supported and confident that our case was in good hands. The outcome was exactly what we were hoping for—and even a bit better than we expected. We truly appreciate the care and dedication shown by the whole team and would not hesitate to use their services again in the future. We highly recommend Michael Gatto’s law office to anyone in need of legal support.

Michael is dedicated to protecting the rights of the catastrophically injured.

Michael gained tremendous courtroom experience as a Deputy County Attorney in Pima County (Tucson), Arizona, where he represented the State in criminal prosecutions, from arraignment to sentencing, on cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to attempted murders. As a prosecutor, he handled nearly 100 jury trials and more than 150 bench trials.

Michael has served as both a Discovery Referee and a Settlement Mentor for Contra Costa County Superior Court. As a Discovery Referee, Michael assisted the Court by hearing Discovery disputes. As a Settlement Mentor, Michael volunteers his time in an effort to resolve cases short of trial.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
