I spoke with several different attorneys to discuss my case with a past employer. It was not a clear, black & white case. I was most impressed with Frank. He asked me to come in and meet him in person to discuss my case, after discussing my case over the phone. He had his partner at the law firm, Laura join our meeting. They both asked me a lot of questions and follow up questions and then deliberated with each other, including me in the conversation. I liked the time and effort Frank took to learn about all of the details before letting me know that the case could be an uphill case, but that he was willing to take my case. He made no grandiose promises and explained to me how tough the case could get. I met with 2 other well reviewed law firms who also offered to take my case. I just felt that Frank was more through and thoughtful in learning all that was involved. I also really liked that even thought its a small law firm, both partners took time to meet with me, adding perspective and combined experience. Frank has a measured, sincere, matter of fact demeanor, which I really like. As we went back and forth trying to reach a settlement with my former employer, he advised me, but always told me the decision was mine. Frank never made me feel stupid or dismissed in any way. He build report and a mutual respect quickly with my former employers legal team, which I think helped. Although it took longer than we would have liked, Frank won a more favorable result than either of us expected. Frank is a real professional, sensitive and with great instincts. If he takes your case, be patient and trust his experience. While I hope I never need to, I would recommend any close family or friends to Frank Magnanimo.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
