Karli, Daniel and the team have been a great help to my family and I! Danielsen Westhoff was able to help me with a stepparent adoption. This was a very emotional time for my family and I but they made the process easy and treated me like a person not just a dollar sign. Once all said and done the adoption was finalized. Karli was very knowledgeable and answered any questions or concerns I had! I would recommend Danielsen Westhoff as they are very efficient and friendly! Thank you Karli and Daniel!

Danielsen Westhoff has been an amazing help for my custody case. Karli and her team have helped me tremendously through the years. I first reached out to Danielsen Westhoff for help with a custody case as I didn't know what to expect with the courts, from the beginning they were fast, efficient, and helpful. Karli answered all my questions and let me know the process from start to finish. She never made me feel like I was a nuisance with all of the questions I asked. I will have her represent me in the future if needed! Thank you Karli!

I met with Daniel to discuss my alimony case. Told him it's been 5 yrs and $35,000 to have my exhusband to loss in county court then appellate. He stated that this was a difficult case and would need $5,000 retainer to start (just as lawyers do) he couldn't tell me any thought of his skills to get this resolved. I thought he was a stand up person, but no-just the same. SAD :(

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
