Verified ClientHired Law firm 2019-2030I personally retained Stephan E. Uslan to represent my husband after reading his online profile. We highly recommend Stephan and we can’t say it enough ! He is a great man who is very educated and caring Family Law Attorney. He is very organized and listens to what his clients tell him. He never listened to the hearsay and didn’t let people’s personal opinions affect his judgment. He personally went over hundreds of pages of evidence. He is very fair and keeps it completely honest with you. His communication skills are among the best I have ever witnessed between an attorney and his clients. He was always there and made time to answer our questions and help with any doubts or worries my husband and I had. We have had previous attorney’s that allowed the other parties to walk all over my husband. Stephan helped my husband stand up against the state employees, their attorney and his ex when they refused to except my husband’s evidence, and when they allowed their personal judgment to cloud the truth and refused to do what was right. Stephan was able to communicate effectively and respectfully with both the state employees, their attorney and the judge proving the truth with the facts and evidence, while also discrediting all the hearsay. The outcome of our court hearing and our experience with Stephan E. Uslan was way better then we could have ever imagined. We continue looking forward to working with him in all our future Family Law needs. We can’t thank him enough for taking a chance on our case and doing the right thing!!

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2017-2019What can I say about Steve that accurately describes how pleased I am with the outcome and overall experience in my case? I came to Steve when I was already in the middle of the dissolution process. (I wished I had called him sooner.) Things weren't working out with my current team, and I was apprehensive about starting over. But Right from the beginning I could see what was different about Steve. He quickly was up to speed on the the particulars, and moved rapidly forward. In spite of the missteps he had to remedy from the previous council. One of things I appreciated most was how responsive he was.Questions, concerns of any kind were always addressed in a timely manner. Steve always went out if his way to communicate, update, and to patiently explain any and all of the details of my case. I was particularly impressed with his trouble shooting skills.Getting to the heart of things, and moving through and finding ways to problem solve. In times of confusion, Steve always was able to add clarity to any problem. I'm convinced that the above talents mentioned, along with his vast experience and knowledge were the reasons that we came through the process with a favorable result. Able to sweat the details yet never losing site on what is most important, his skill in mediation was where his talents clearly shined. Steve's knowledge and experience, along with the skills mentioned are what enabled me to obtain a favorable result in the final orders. of my case. Warm Regards, And Gratitude. Kelly McGraw

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2017-2018I was extremely pleased with Steve’s representation of me at a very difficult and vulnerable time. He is a good listener, kind, very experienced and very smart. Because he is a solo practitioner, he alone handled every aspect of my case and I was never passed around. I always trusted him and his advice and witnessed that he was never intimidated by the other side. My input and ideas were always respected by him as well. His business card suggests that he strives for integrity, commitment and results. ALL TRUE. He is a good man and extremely dedicated to his clients. I am grateful to have found him.

Hired Law firm 2019-2021I truly cannot say enough about working with Steve Uslan during one of the most challenging periods of my life. During the 18+ months of my divorce and custody proceedings, Steve never missed a beat. I never felt like I was on the "back burner" because of how long my case went on. But most importantly, I was always 100% confident that Steve's priority was the safety of my daughter and myself. Throughout the different phases of my case, Steve's legal expertise was always clear, but what truly set him apart was his commitment to the wellbeing of my family and his professional history working with legal professionals throughout the state and across various systems. Steve's recommendations were spot-on, and in the end, delivered everything that mattered in my case. I will be thankful for his dedication and expertise for many, many years to come.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
