Verified ClientHired Attorney Kathryn Sjulin Lonowski 2025-2026Kathryn has an in-depth knowledge of divorce law and a strong work ethic. She regularly communicated and provided a strategic plan for achieving a fair and equitable outcome. I’m thankful to have had Kathryn represent me during my divorce because she was able to accomplish what other attorneys said couldn’t be done.

Verified ClientHired Attorney Kathryn Sjulin Lonowski 2007-2008Kathryn was fantastic to work with because of her experience, demeanor, professionalism and ability to see how the case was going to play out. Her strategy worked, but expectations were made clear by Kathryn, which I appreciated. She's outstanding to work with and highly recommended.

Verified ClientHired Attorney Kathryn Sjulin Lonowski 2019Kathryn was professional, transparent, and thorough with me the entire time. I hired her to work with the Life Insurance company after my ex-husband's death to get the money that was owed to me via my divorce decree which was sloppily written by another attorney. She went above and beyond what I asked her to do. There were no surprises in billing which I truly appreciated. She will be very honest with you, which may not always feel good, but she has your best interest at heart. I would hire her again! I regret that my case had to be passed on to another probate attorney because I know that I would have been happy with the end result with Kathryn. She gets the job done!

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2014-2019I recommend Kathryn Lonowski based upon my own experience in my very long and somewhat complicated divorce. Kathryn is very intelligent and judicious; I feel Kathryn explored every angle on my behalf and made thoughtful decisions about what was reasonable, what was likely to work and what wasn't. Kathryn consulted experts when she felt that it would be beneficial to my case. The expense of divorce is a grim fact--no way around that--however, I did feel that the fees that I incurred were the result of necessary hard work by Kathryn and her team. If it could be said that there is a "winner" in divorce, I feel that Kathryn was able to secure this title for me in my case through her willful intellect and approach, and perseverance. While Kathryn is kind, congenial and gracious, her legal acumen and focus on winning your case is her strong suit. I recommend Wick and Trautwein, and Kathryn Lonowski.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
