I found VanMeveren Law Group after searching online for a Personal Injury Attorney. I suffered a severe break that had me immobile for the better part of 6 months. I knew that I needed representation because surgery and rehab were being discussed. After reviewing different attorneys on google I called VanMeveren Law Group for a consultation. From the very first phone call they were attentive and understanding listening to everything I had to tell them. They agreed to take my case, and I was assigned to Karl Hager and Karl was nothing short of amazing. He took my case head on and made sure the every detail of everything ran smoothly for me. I didn’t have to worry about anything and was able to fully focus on my recovery and adjusting to being a mom of 3 with a badly broken ankle. He made sure to update me every week and was very through in his discussions of my case, but what really got me and I was most appreciative of was how much Karl and the whole team truly cared about my rehab and healing and not just the legal aspect of my case. Even when things were rough for the VanMevern law team personally towards the end of the year it never affected my case. They collectively came together to not only support each other, but continue to support me in the negotiating and closing part of my case. I never had to worry about anything once Karl and his team took me on as a client. 2023 was by far one of the hardest years I’ve ever had, but entrusting my care and support in the team at VanMeveren Law not only was instrumental in my healing, but I feel if it wasn’t for Karl and his team I would still be fighting an uphill battle today. I am forever grateful to Karl and the team at VanMeveren Law, and if an attorney is ever needed for me or my family in the future they will be my first call! Thank you again to Karl, Gabi, and the entire team for their help and support during one of the hardest years of my life, they truly were angels on earth.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
