If you are looking for a dedicated, hard working lawyer that will work for you - DO NOT USE THEM. I have been working with them for 6plus months and spent way more that I should of. The lack of communication and follow through will cost you lots of money. Every time I had to email or call to get a status or verify something was done (almost daily) I got charged. The lack of follow through will cost you. You will spend so much money and time going over the same thing because they didn't get it done the first 5 times and then when they do, its wrong so they charge you to do it again. The best part is that when the respondent doesn't do what is required, Jolein is nice enough to reach out and remind them. Who does she work for? I went with this lawyer because they knew what emotional abuse is. Even knowing what is happing at the other home, she still just has a "make it fair to all" attitude. She is everything we hate in a lawyer.

I hired this firm office with the belief that they would help me in my very nasty divorce and custody case. She did nothing for me for over a year while continuing to take money from me, but give me excuse after excuse. I trusted her as I am not a lawyer so this was all new to me. Meanwhile, I was passed from one lawyer to the next. I was assigned to a new lawyer who would promise to file, just to quickly resign. I never was I notified about any lawyer resigning (in total I had 4 or 5 assigned to me in a span of a year) until I contacted this law firm myself to inquire about an update. Multiple times I had to email/call over and over with no reply for days, weeks at a time(but when they wanted to collect a payment they were quick to call me). Months would go by with nothing, not until I threatened to turn her into the Better Business Bureau as well as file a complaint with the Bar Association did she reach back out to me. This law firm office did nothing for me or my children. She basically stole two years from me and enabled my ex-husband to continue to alienate me from my children. I had been a stay at home mom for 10 years previously to my divorce , my ex-husband had money and better lawyers. In the end Miss Harro took almost 2 years to get me mediation, Which in turn stole that time from me and my children as my husband was alienated me from them at this time. Which, she was fully aware of and did nothing to assist or help me. I could write a book on all the things that happened while I had this law firm to represent me. In the end, I walked away from a 19 year marriage with 2 kids with nothing but a suitcase. DO NOT HIRE THIS LAW FIRM FOR CUSTODY!! They do not care not have any empathy. She will take your money, and that’s it. You will not get anything but an empty wallet, heartbreak and frustration. If anyone would like to contact me with questions before hiring, feel free. I know that they will know EXACTLY who I am by this post too. And they STILL won’t care. They got their money.

We have used the Harro Law firm numerous times. From a Guardianship for our eldest son, a Will and Trust and unfortunately they also handled the dissolution of marriage for our youngest son. They have always been there when we needed them. Hopefully our path and needs are clear but if need arises they will be the first we call. They are professional and reasonably priced for the excellent service they provide. Thanks Jolein, Gary and staff.

Approximately 12 year's ago I tried to get some legal aid from Jolein, and she wouldn't answer my phone calls, had her paralegal and charged me for everything that I would call to find out if she heard anything, never kept me informed. I ended up loosing my case for co-custodial parenthood. I could tell that she didn't care about me, but I couldn't fire her, cause I didn't know just how bad of an attorney she was. I would never recommend her to any Male who loves and is trying to really be a part of their kids life.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
