Hired Attorney Scott F. Reese 2025I had another larger firm willing to take my case but Mr. Reese’s smooth-talking swayed me to go with him. Every single time I’ve spoken with him, I had to remind him of who I was and what my case was about. After 3 months of this routine, he tells me that his caseload is so large that he wonders if I should find another attorney to represent me and that he “will call (me) next week if he thinks I have a viable case”. I signed with him 3 months ago, why would an honorable attorney ever waste someone’s time like this? Avoid working with this person at all costs.

Consulted Attorney Scott F. Reese 2025I reached out to this attorney regarding a traumatic situation that happened at work. Zero empathy was given. “What do you want us to do about it” attitude. Among the things said: People are coerced into signing contracts all the time. If you signed a separation agreement, what do you want me to do about it? People with real trauma and issues shouldn’t have to be talked down to just for seeking help in an area that has a severe lack of justice. This guy wants a sure thing. Totally understand the right to not take a case, but a minimal amount of professional presence could have prevented this review.

Consulted Law firm 2025Scott answered the phone and gave me his professional advice. Very honest and professional lawyer. I wish he also does other law practices. Hard to find a lawyer that is responsive and very honest and straight to the point.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
