    Hired Law firm 2017-2018
I hired Mr. Finch for my divorce case which is begin in March 2017. If I knew result of my divorce through the arbitration decision process - I WOULD NEVER HIRE HIM. I didn't have any job and income during my divorce process when my ex husband Carlos Silva who is working at Gama Aviation and earring $160000 annually. I got $450 per week for all leaving expenses, was thrown out from my house with my mother and dog outside without place to live. I asked MR. Finch to help me and raise my alimony or allow me to stay in my apartment but it was unsuccessful. All I can say if you don't have money or will not pay him, he will not spend any time on your case and he will loose it how he did with mine. Basically after 10 years of marriage, my ex Mr. Silva got all assets that he could imagine including house in Oxford, Ct, Porsche Panamera ( loan which still under my name loan), 401K and 100% lequdation of Ameritrade account, receive all bonuses through his work. I receive amount of alimony of poverty-level which I can't leave and pay my bills during that my ex husband earring $160000 with paid in full house and Porsche Panamera. Mr. Finch left me during one court hearing when we had many motions regarding my outstanding bills and health insurance plus lawyer fee. As soon as he got his fee paid by my ex husband, he was gone explaining that he had family commitment. I left alone in. court with my ex spouse and his attorney. Well, I`m not going to say that MR. Finch is good or bad lawyer, you can decide on your own. He basically left me with nothing, broke, in tears and depression. I believe in him and hired him with faith and hope. Please be carful and never agree with anything legal unless you are confident and protected, because its impossible to change one its already signed and decision was made. Good luck.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
