Kelly Cavanaugh is an amazing attorney. She has helped me in various legal matters and I highly recommend her.

My case (family matter) has been taken care by lawyers from the Morris Group, and personally by Cavanaugh, Esq. By any measures Mrs. Cavanaugh’s legal involvement was unprofessional and showed her lack of experience. When paying very high legal fees I was expecting high quality legal services. Instead of that Mrs. Cavanaugh was mostly unprepared and rather focused on how to increase my bill than how to defend my case. Seeing this I decided to collect, organize, analyze necessary material and give to my lawyer ready to be used in the Court as evidence. Mrs. Cavanaugh was completely inexperienced and even after getting from me evidence to be used in establishing a case of perjury committed by my accuser, couldn’t properly utilize it. Mrs. Cavanaugh wasn’t able to use properly the powerful evidence of perjury committed by my opponent to convince the Judge to at least dismiss the case. Mrs. Cavanagh was trying to convince me that she will show her skills during the Court hearing, but the opposite happened. She revealed a total lack of qualifications, and she was absolutely incompetent. After she lost (easy to win) the case I hired an experienced lawyer who helped me to turn around my court battle and won the case easily. Despite the ineptitude of Mrs. Cavanaugh and lost case Morris Group sent me bills with unsubstantiated and wrong charges. If you are looking for legal help, I strongly recommend checking other law firms and especially avoid Mrs. Cavanaugh’s, Esq. services because they are very expensive and not efficient.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
