Hired Attorney 2014-2015For me, deciding to divorce was not easy. We had been married for almost thirty years. Our children were already out of college. We had grown apart and couldn’t agree on just about anything. I was miserable, we were miserable and it was reflecting on to our children. I wish I could tell you I spent time researching attorneys but I did not. Who wants to admit to anyone this issue? Besides, who among your friends would you want to talk to? Frankly, I was lucky to find Lisa. Of course, she had heard it all before and was able to address all of my fears and questions. The process is arduous, to be sure, but Lisa’s professionalism and experience guided me to a successful conclusion with no hidden surprises. It has now been four years since my divorce and I am very happy and satisfied with my decision and my life. Without hesitation, I am extremely grateful to Lisa and her team. Please seriously consider at least contacting Lisa. My experience was finding a compassionate, understanding and direct individual who definitely had my best interest in her focus. I trust you will find this as well. All the best to you.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
