Ft. Lauderdale Criminal Law Lawyer
Overview
I, Lorri K. Fishman, helped create this firm with an unyielding belief that I could make a difference in the outcome of my clients’ cases. I represent individuals facing a wide array of legal situations, from criminal charges to divorces and custody battles. As a Fort Lauderdale criminal defense lawyer, I have proven experience handling felonies and misdemeanors, including drug possession, driving under the influence (DUI), theft, assault, domestic violence, weapons crimes and civil restraining orders. I am especially passionate about juvenile justice.
I have also handled cases in matters such as LGBT issues, modifications, child support and more as a Fort Lauderdale family lawyer. I have over 25 years of legal experience and provide personalized counsel from start to finish. I truly connect with my clients, giving them my cell number so that they can reach out to me anytime they need to. I believe in walking my clients through the entire process, ensuring they have the peace of mind and guidance they need.
After graduating from Nova Southeastern University with my JD in 1998, I initially practiced in the civil arena, but after a few short years, I joined the Broward County State Attorney’s Office. I worked my way through county court in the DUI unit, where I trained at DUI school to learn all about the Intoxilyzer machine and field sobriety exercises. I then moved through the felony trial unit, where I prosecuted such cases as armed robbery, second-degree murder, grand theft, aggravated assault and battery, burglaries, drug possession and delivery charges, and many more.
I then became highly focused on juvenile law, with a primary focus on sex offense crimes and worked my way through the ranks to become a supervisor in the Juvenile Justice Unit. There, I handled hundreds of juvenile delinquency cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies, including sexual battery cases. I was responsible for making critical decisions on whether to file criminal charges against juveniles and what charges were filed. I have handled thousands of criminal cases, and I am a zealous advocate for those wrongfully accused of crimes.
Through my work as a prosecutor and in private practice, I have established my reputation as a formidable advocate. I fully understand the criminal justice system and use my knowledge to staunchly protect the rights of clients. My dedication to achieving the most favorable outcome for each client is evident in my careful investigation as well as my attention to the nuances of negotiation and trial preparation, no matter what type of case I am working on.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
