    Hired Law firm 2020
Very unprofessional and rude attorney! He claims to fight for you, but all he cares about is lining his pocket. He charged me for services he did not render, made promises, but did not deliver; and when I questioned him, he insulted me and my husband. I should have known, because on the first meeting after depositing $5,000 retainer fee, and being charged $350 per hour and $400 per hour for his partner, he spent less than 25 minutes with us, cut us short, and he told us to leave our documents, that he had work to do and had to go. I never met with the partner of his firm (and yet, I was charged for her services). The case was dropped by the plaintiff without much input from this attorney. He only sent in an affidavit which I mostly wrote. He was supposed to file a legal response to the plaintiff complaint, but never did, even after the court extended the deadline for filing a response. He promised to do that, but he never did. He had the audacity to charge me for over 2 hours of legal services for chit chatting with another defendant's legal Counsel, when he had told me that the other Counsel reached out to him after seeing his name on the case. Despite all these outlandish charges, he owes me a balance of about $1,200 as shown on a statement of account that he emailed me. I am yet to receive this balance from him. Even though my case has been dropped, frankly without his help, I am still forced to fix his mess. I am still fighting to clear my name and to have the frivolous lawsuit against me, be dropped with all my demands being met. I will greatly warn others against using this attorney. Don't let his big promises and assurances fool you. Most likely, he will not care about your case, and once you question his moves, he becomes hostile and belligerent. Buyers beware!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
