Dealing with attorney Lisa Troell from Chesser & Barr, P.A. comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. I am currently dealing with a stressful situation and it has become even more stressful because of Lisa. Below is my feedback. Hopefully she gets this memo and gets things back on track so I can revise this review. Pros 1. Competence: Lisa Troell is competent in her field, ensuring that you receive good legal advice and representation. 2. Cost-Effective Solutions: She provides cost-effective solutions, which can help you manage legal expenses efficiently. Cons 1. Disrespectful Communication: Her email replies are often disrespectful and terse, which can create a negative experience and hinder effective communication. 2. Adversarial Approach: She tends to treat clients as if they were the opposing party, which can make interactions feel confrontational and unwelcoming. 3. Lack of Transparency: She asks if you have questions, and then does not answer any questions or provide the necessary information unless it serves her purpose, making it difficult for clients to stay informed and feel confident in their legal matters. 4. Leverage Tactics: She seems to leverage what she wants from yous to give out information, which can create a sense of manipulation and distrust. While Lisa Troell's expertise and cost-effective solutions are significant advantages, her communication style and approach to client interaction can be challenging. Hopefully she gets this memo and gets things back on track so I can revise this review.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
