Verified ClientHired Attorney 2019From the moment I met attorney Morgan, I felt comfortable with him. He asked the right questions and guided me through every step of my divorce. I met a lot of attorneys before I selected him because I moved from another state and I also shopped around when I came to St. Augustine. I made an office visit with two local attorneys who were both well respected. Although they were not taking clients, they advised me and also recommended attorney Morgan. His name was mentioned 3 different times. All the lawyers I visited and also a friend of mind told me that being comfortable and having trust was a very important factor in my decision for choosing an attorney to represent my interests. Mr. Morgan is well respected in town by his colleges and I feel this is important because a lawyer should be tactful and able to negotiate with the other lawyers if a problem arises. As I was guided through the process, I knew that attorney Morgan genuinely cared about my situation as he called on more than one occasion to discuss the case after business hours. My case went in to the magistrate and he prepared well, read all of my journal entries (I had written a journal throughout the problems of my marriage) and went over the entire case before the hearing to make sure we were on the same page. He explained well how to present my answers. His paralegal, Jessica, was also so helpful. She organized everything and was always prompt to respond to my emails and any needs that I had during the case. Attorney Morgan is trustworthy, hard working, and well prepared and most importantly knows the law. I strongly recommend attorney Morgan.

Hired Attorney 2011-2029I have been fighting a custody battle for 14 years. I had never felt overcharged, and he stuck with me through a lot of hard times! I have 100% custody of my daughter, which is rare for fathers!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
