Verified ClientHired Law firm 2020From my first phone call to our last conversation it was all about money. Received 2 free consultations from other attorneys and paid $500 for hers. My reference said Derr was the best but I felt they rolled over for my ex wife’s $3,000 attorney while I paid $13,000.

Hired Law firm 2023-2025I am very satisfied with the representation I received from Harris, Hunt & Derr. I am especially thankful to Christine Derr and her team for representing me and making this a seamless process. She was very timely in her communication and thoroughly explained the process to me. She was very detailed in answering all my questions. I am very satisfied with the outcome of the proceeding. I would recommend her and this firm!

Hired Law firm 2022-2023I worked with Nicole Gehringer for my divorce and custody case. Unfortunately, it was a high conflict, non-amicable case with jurisdiction issues and everything else. Nicole was very professional, knowledgeable, mindful of not running up legal fees, ethical, thoughtful, and overall just a huge help during a very difficult time. She provided good advice about very difficult situations and was able to come up with creative solutions to problems that didn’t really have any good resolutions. I highly recommend her and Harris, Hunt, Derr if you find yourself going through a difficult family law matter. They are organized, efficient, and will go the extra mile for you and lessen your stress as much as possible in this type of situation. You won’t regret choosing this team.

Hired Law firm 2019-2021From the beginning I felt I was in good hands with this team. Nancy and Cory were very professional and empathetic to my case. Divorce is a very emotional journey for anyone, and without this team I don't know how I would have made it through. When Cory gave me advice, he explained everything clearly so that I understood what he was advising and gave me options so that I felt comfortable with my decision. Cory understands the family dynamic of a divorce and is a big advocate for children which I admire. Cece, my ParalegaI, was always a pleasure to work with, I sometimes forgot I was in the middle of the worst time of my life. My case took longer than we all thought, but it ended without having to go to trial which I am so grateful for! I would highly recommend this team if you are considering an attorney for the best outcome!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
