Hired Law firm 2023THE WORST ATTORNEY THAT I HAVE EVER HIRED. I am legally blind and hired Arthur Schofield to handle a matter of Disability Discrimination. I could not have made a worse choice. Rather than treating me with the dignity and compassion that I deserved, Schofield treated me in an arrogant, demeaning condescending manner. I felt that his invoices were inexplicably high for the very little work that he performed and was also very disappointed in his attorney work product, which was late and unusable. I feel that his lack of knowledge compromised my claim and caused his lack of credibility with opposing counsel. After wasting thousands of dollars, I fired him for irreparably damaging my trust and misrepresenting my position. I would not recommend this attorney to my worst enemy. For more details, contact DisabilityRights2023@gma…. I will share some of his rude, harassing client correspondence with anyone who would like a taste of what it feels like to be abused by a "Super Ego". I am a blind senior, and I feel victimized by the very lawyer that I went to for help. He took my social security disability money, treated me abusively, and kept a retainer for 3 hours of his services that I feel were not actually performed. Since he had no LSA with me, I plan to report his actions to the Florida Bar Association. Someone has to stand up for the disabled, but Schofield is NOT the guy that you want. These comments reflect my personal opinion, based on my personal experiences. They are not posted publicly as "facts" about Schofield, nor are they posted with malice. I post as a public service so that potential clients can make an informed decision based upon my horrible experiences in dealing with Schofield.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
