    Hired Attorney 2018
So, This is my personal review of attorney Adanna Ugwonali, based on my personal dealings in a personal injury case. Since, I never had to deal with a personal injury matter, I went into this situation following the guidance of the attorney I hired, Adanna Ugwonali. After signing a contract that stated I agreed to have her represent me, and that I agree to pay her 33% of whatever settlement I received, I agreed. Because it seemed to be the "norm" . So then I am told by Ugwonali, to contact her when my treatment is over. So off the back I have problems and concerns that need to be addressed, like the insurance company dragging their feet in regards to reimbursing me for my rental car. She was unwilling to even attempt to contact them, even though I begged her to help me with this. I ended up myself, the client contacting them going back and forth with them and having them for more weeks in the rental car. Which Ugwonali should have done. I went and got all the documents from police reports , information from providers you name it i did it. Because I felt that my case was moving at a snails pace. I negotiated all of my bills, I personally felt that Ugwonali did not care because she was going to be paid regardless. I had to demand that she pay my providers that treated me, a month or so after my case settled i found out my chiropractor still was not paid. Even after she told me she would be sending him a payment that same day. Luckily I have everything documented and emails from her admitting she made mistakes in some capacity of my case. She then threatened me with legal action if I went and filed a lawsuit against her for malpractice. She cost me time and money , She did not care about me as a client, only her self interest. I also feel that she tired to get me to do things that would be deemed "suspicious" by trying to get me to file a claim against my roommates insurance, who had nothing to do with the accident. she seemed annoyed when i refused to give her that information. Luckily i used my better judgement and refused, also I am glad that i have records of all of our conversations. It is really sad she got paid money that should have gone to me for doing absolutely nothing. even more appalling is that her paralegal sent out a demand later that had all types of grammatically errors that I had to point out and ask her to fix! insane, I hope this honest review of my experience can help others when choosing a lawyer. you should not have to do all the work in your case. that is what a lawyer is for! this review is a honest reflection of my experience with Ugwonali law group located in Sandy Springs Ga.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
