Verified ClientHired Law firm 2021-2022Ashley did a great job keeping me abreast of all details regarding my divorce. She would answer all of questions was always responsive. I also never got the feeling that I was being price gouged, which is a common complaint involving lawyers. I would highly recommend her and I have recommended her to others.

Hired Law firm 2008-2021Ashley has helped me, and members of my family, through the years with a variety of legal matters. I cannot recommend her enough. She really knows the law inside and out, and always goes above and beyond!

Hired Law firm 2019We met with Ashley and she said military divorce was her specialty. Two hours before our court hearing Ashley called my husband to negotiate. She did not provide documentation on how she arrived at the amount was trying to negotiate and told him the judge will make him pay more if he doesn't settle now. We felt blindsided!!! We found another lawyer and Ashley was more than $50K off on her calculations. I would not recommend her to assist in military divorces.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
