I will not recommend this firm to anyone. They told me to go after the insurance company myself for property damage. Like wtf. But then they get paid what $200 less than me. I get a settlement & they make just as much money as me the person who is hurt. They tell me my check has to sit in their bank escrow for 3 weeks before they can give it to me. Ok that’s fine. But you guys received my check in 12/31 asked me to come sign paper work on 1/12, today is now 2/2 and I still have no check. I will never do business with them again

    Hired Law firm 2018-2020
I am not sure how this firm earned the award of "Super Lawyers" this firm is definitely not a Super anything, but a Super headache. The very last Lawyer on the case just wanted to get the case closed. It was a run around when it was time to pick up payment- check. The receptionist does not listen to understand, she listens to reply and she has a nasty attitude. You can not speak with Calvin Smith, himself. My advice is, if you choose to give your business to a law firm and you can not speak with the partner, but you are paying that firm, simple choose another firm.

I would never ever recommend this law firm. Waited over 3yrs for a miniscule settlement. I could never reach my lawyer or her assistant by phone, email or text for over 5 months and the receptionist for the firm it's self wasn't anymore helpful. I asked to speak to with Calvin Smith and was told he doesn't have voicemail or email. I come to find out the lawyer I had trying to reach no longer worked there and had been gone for some months

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
