Hired Attorney 2021-2023Attorney Review Thank you for assigning Attorney Jay Everett to the last 21 hours of my divorce case. The best decision you made in my case. I retained Atlanta Family & Immigration Law on August 19,2021. It took 6 days/21 hours for Attorney Everett to single handedly built the confidence that I needed; As it relates to dispelling my belief that I was going to be cheated out of all of the money and flat out loose my case. Attorney Everett fully listened to me for understanding and clarity. She was responsive to my questions and concerns. Unlike the other assigned staff she kept her word. And most importantly was on time to court. She was able to communicate and articulate to the Judge the updated information that none of the other various employees bothered to do. She showed due diligence when she needed to quickly shift gears to review, analyze, classify, and make several strategies for months of piled up information that was critical, key and relevant to my case. Thank God that the Judge was gracious and Attorney Everett was very professional and best believe that the Judge clearly recognized it also. Shame on you Judith Delus Montgomery! Those are not the qualities I received from you or the rest of your staff at Atlanta Family & immigration Law.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
