Hired Law firm 2015Although my experience with Debra occurred many years ago, I feel compelled to share the long-term impact that I believe her evaluation and recommendations had on my family. At the time, significant concerns were raised that I do not believe were adequately investigated or addressed. In the years that followed, the parent who was favored in the recommendations ultimately experienced serious legal issues, while the children endured challenges that, in my opinion, should have prompted greater scrutiny during the evaluation process. The consequences were not temporary. One child later developed significant mental health struggles, and the emotional impact on the children continued well into adulthood. Today, despite being grown, the children voluntarily maintain limited relationships with that parent due to their experiences. What concerns me most is not simply the outcome of the case, but what I perceived as gaps in the investigative process. Child custody evaluations can have life-altering consequences for families, and I believe evaluators should exercise extraordinary diligence in reviewing records, interviewing collateral sources, verifying information, and considering all available evidence before making recommendations. Families place enormous trust in professionals involved in custody matters. Because the effects of those recommendations can last for decades, accuracy, thoroughness, and accountability are essential.
