Overview
Matthew G. Gunn was born and raised in Idaho and loves his home state. Mr. Gunn spent his childhood exploring the mountains of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, as well as skiing at Targhee, Jackson Hole, and Kelly Canyon. He also enjoyed fly fishing on the South Fork and Henry's Fork of the Snake River.Mr. Gunn attended the University of Arkansas for his undergraduate studies, where he graduated with honors and was a member of the Razorbacks' prestigious track and field and cross country program. Mr. Gunn competed in the 5,000 meters and the cross country, both of which he excelled at, earning him All-SEC honors four times. He also competed on five NCAA Division I National Championship teams. Mr. Gunn was one of the top male student-athletes in the NCAA across every division in his senior year, and as a result, he was granted the Walter Byers Scholarship, the NCAA's highest academic award.
Ivy League universities and the bright lights of New York City beckoned. Mr. Gunn earned his law degree from the esteemed Columbia University on Manhattan's Upper West Side, where he also worked as an editor on Columbia Law School’s American Review of International Arbitration. After law school, Mr. Gunn clerked for two federal judges, first with Judge Justin Quackenbush of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington in Spokane, and then with Judge Stephen Trott of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit in Boise.
Since then, Mr. Gunn has been honing his abilities in private practice in the Treasure Valley, where he has had the privilege of working with some of Idaho's most seasoned litigators at Rossman Law Group, Holland & Hart, and Brassey, Crawford and Howell. Mr. Gunn's interests outside of the law include spending time with his family, golf and ice hockey, and experiencing the beautiful state of Idaho.
