Hired Attorney 2021Can't be a real attorney. Perhaps, he took on the name of one that just died, or ? I'd ask for his license number to make sure he is licensed. I'd advice anyone to check all ATTY inquiries, and ask for Lic. # to see their history: ever suspended, still licensed, etc.

Hired Attorney 2019This guy does not know how to spell or use a computer. He just says the same thing over and over again. He sent us an agreement from his client in which he misspelled not only my name but his own clients. It was full of additional spelling error. I asked him for a copy to redline and he just kept sending the PDF version full of error, finally be converted it to a word file but that then had all the apostrophes replaced with equal signs and random symbols inserted all over the place. When I asked for a copy void of error he told me that what he was sending was "good enough for my purposes" AKA he wanted me to do his job for him. I finally gave up and fulled edit his version and made the changes necessary. When I sent it over he told me to sign the original agreement and refuses to make any changes. He is rude and incompetent. I would avoid any dealings with him or anyone that is dumb enough to use him as they counsel.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
