Hired Law firm 2022-2023I wish I could give 0 stars. This man is a liar. I had him recently talked a case which was opened of July of 2020. Or first court date was I. August, he didn't tell me that he push many times i he was unprepared, it was a very si.ple case -he did a no-show to court, got a strike and failed to tell me pushing the date back again. It wasn't until I had fired him and had another attorney look at my case that I was advised he did absolutely nothing for 6 months. I send him documents I signed at the start of the case (maybe about 4 or 5) and they didn't get filed until I threatened to fire him (January 2023). He would ask me the same things over and over like what are your parents and siblings names for months even after I sent the obituary with everything in it. He would ask who still lives at this estate , do you talk to your siblings... I repeated myself for 6 months -The final straw was when he asked "well, how do I get these documents to your sister and get her to sign". He has her address and it's not his job to force anyone to sign anything, after I advised him to send the documents to her house that he has the address for- he said "That's a good idea". He wad trying to create roadblocks where there were none so he didn't have to do anything and could drag this case... my thought process is get it over and done with so we can finish and never have to speak again.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
