Attorney Information

Overview

Mr. Hamann is a Partner with Lake Toback DiDomenico, having joined the firm in 2013. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hamann was engaged in private practice, focusing primarily on corporate contractual valuation and enforcement, pre and post decree family law matters, and appellate matters.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Hamann has utilized his business background to concentrate his practice on litigation and alternative dispute resolution for high-net-worth individuals, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and complex litigation, ranging from executive liability, to private business valuation and division, reasonable retained earnings and compensation, calculation and valuation of Restricted Stock Units and equity grants, fraud and fraudulent transfers, trust agreements, asset tracing, matters of parental rights and responsibilities, and the valuation and division of estates.

In addition to his practice at the trial level, Mr. Hamann has appeared before every appellate district in the State, as well as the Illinois Supreme Court, having represented clients on dozens of appellate matters.

Mr. Hamann has also appeared repeatedly in the Northern District of Illinois, representing clients on matters of international child abduction and alleged violations of the Hague Convention.

Mr. Hamann has also appeared throughout the country, when retained pro hac vice for clients who have complex needs outside of the state, having appeared in matters in New York, Wisconsin, and Nevada.

While Mr. Hamann has enjoyed a great deal of success for clients in litigation, he takes particular pride in being able to resolve high-conflict matters by agreement, whether financial or child-related. It is the ability to litigate when necessary that helps drive Mr. Hamann to advocate for reasonable resolutions by agreement, whenever possible.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
