Overview
Stuart A. Reid is an experienced family law attorney and mediator with offices in Deerfield, Illinois. From 1997 until April of 2004, Mr. Reid practiced family law with Schiller, DuCanto & Fleck, the nation's largest family law firm. While with Schiller, DuCanto & Fleck, Mr. Reid handled hundreds of family law matters ranging from straightforward post-decree child support adjustments to complex, multi-million dollar divorce trials. In April of 2004, Mr. Reid opened the Law Offices of Stuart A. Reid P.C. in Lake Forest, Illinois, with the goal of continuing to provide high-quality legal services to individuals involved in family law disputes while also developing the mediation and collaborative components of his practice. In May of 2009, The Law Offices of Stuart A. Reid, P.C. moved to an expanded facility in Deerfield, Illinois to better serve clients in Lake, Cook, McHenry, and DuPage Counties. In 2019, Mr. Reid became one of the first family law attorneys in Illinois to achieve the designation of Certified Financial Litigator and he continues to focus his practice in the area of complex matrimonial financial litigation.

Mr. Reid's practice is focused in the area of Lake, Cook, McHenry, and DuPage County family law matters including matrimonial law, divorce/dissolution of marriage, child support, child custody, visitation/parenting time disputes, spousal support/maintenance, and allocation of college expenses. Mr. Reid has successfully litigated numerous cases involving complex executive compensation packages, analysis of unreported income, business valuations, domestic violence, and parentage matters. Mr. Reid is a frequent lecturer on family law topics including allocation of college expenses, the utilization of Section 529 college savings accounts in divorce planning, motion practice, and stepparent visitation rights. Mr. Reid is a 1988 graduate of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois, a 1992 graduate of the University of Iowa and, in 1997, graduated from the University of Iowa Law School with High Honors.
Mr. Reid is a member of the Lake County and Illinois State Bar Associations. He has served on the Executive Board of the Lake County Bar Association as both Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Reid moderated the 2001 Lake County Bar Association New Attorneys Seminar. Mr. Reid has also served on the Illinois State Bar Association Young Lawyers and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Councils.
