Hired Law firm 2019-2020Susan Kamman is the worst lawyer I have ever met. First she seemed compassionate, passionate and ready to go. Just what you would want or so we thought. We could not have been more wrong. She was never reachable, never returned calls or emails. We didn’t hear from her for 4 months at the beginning of COVID. NEVEr on time for court or meetings. Lied about why. Might call you night before or hours prior to court. Had 3 or 4 assistants that all during less than a year. No way to reach her in an emergency which we had several. Always whining about she thought we were not fair to her and she actually cried. She was nasty and abusive. Never billed us but asked us to pay which I would not without detailed bill. She quit! Saying we weren’t cooperAting when she was just plain bad from the start. Don’t hire her. If you do you will be sorry. She should have her license revoked. She is a horrible person. Oh did I mention all the lies and her wasting time by talking about her kids and her needs. Yep!

Hired Law firm 2020-2021Sue Kamman completely abandoned me after she received my retainer. Fortunately, I was able to finish out my divorce without the help of Sue Kamman. I had to go around her back in order to get things done because she would not act. She blamed server/email issues for her reason not for contacting me, for over 4 months. Not once did she return one of my many phone calls. Having given up on any help from Sue, I requested she withdraw from my case, so that I could represent myself and finish my divorce. She made zero efforts to do this, and when the court date came, the judge was waiting for her to show up to the zoom call for over a half hour. After my ex’s attorney pressured her, Sue joined the call, just to withdraw as my attorney. She still has over half of my retainer, and has done the bare minimum of work, and effort. If you ask me my opinion, Sue Kamman is a criminal, and a fraud. I’ve requested my retainer back from her multiple times, and I’ve again received no response. This practice shows absolutely no professionalism, or human decency. I am disgusted by her behavior and I hope that the ARDC investigates these claims, as no lawyer should be allowed to do this to anyone. Sue Kamman should be disbarred.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
