Hired Law firm 2021-2023I felt as though I was already at a disadvantage being male in DuPage and seeking as much time as possible with my daughter. My ex wanted to fight over every little thing possible. After 6.5 years and several lawyers later, by the grace of God, I found Katie Kenny. Katie turned the entire case around and it was resolved in 18 months. She diligently reviewed the case file and had my ex figured out. She always responded to my calls and emails in a very timely manner. She was well beyond prepared for all of our hearings. My case was a mess filled with drama and I don't know what I would have done without Katie. Thank you for everything! I would highly recommend her for any and all aspects of a divorce or parentage case.

Hired Law firm 2016-2017Tracie Jablonsky is phenomenal. She is thorough, professional, empathetic, and forward facing. She made sure I had all my bases covered, both current and future. She made herself available to me day/night, was aggressive, understanding and extremely well versed in family law. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
