The moment my husband of 25 years decided he wanted a divorce I knew I needed someone like Tracie on my side!!! She is knowledgeable, supportive yet tough, gracious and strives to achieve the best settlement for her clients!!! Not only for today but future as well!!!

AWFUL DESPICABLE! Amy Kain is everything that is wrong with attorneys! She allowed an 80 year old woman clearly suffering from memory loss to be taken advantage of by her boyfriend, completely separating her from her family, and removing her children as power of attorney. He has since put is own family in charge of her and her finances, and is doing nothing to help her medically as she continues to suffer from dementia.

I cannot speak highly enough of Tracie. The 5-star reviews are spot on and not without the well deserved merit. Tracie came on as counsel a bit over 2yrs. into my divorce and she not only quickly grasped the situation she also had a good handle of opposing counsel and was able to settle the matter in just over a week. I couldn't be more pleased with her professional and stead-fast work that she did for me. She is a credit to her profession and I highly recommend her services.

    Recommends this Law firm
I felt as though I was already at a disadvantage being male in DuPage and seeking as much time as possible with my daughter. My ex wanted to fight over every little thing possible. After 6.5 years and several lawyers later, by the grace of God, I found Katie Kenny. Katie turned the entire case around and it was resolved in 18 months. She diligently reviewed the case file and had my ex figured out. She always responded to my calls and emails in a very timely manner. She was well beyond prepared for all of our hearings. My case was a mess filled with drama and I don't know what I would have done without Katie. Thank you for everything! I would highly recommend her for any and all aspects of a divorce or parentage case.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
