Mariam L. Hafezi - Oak Park, IL

Mariam is an experienced trial attorney who has spent her entire legal career fighting for plaintiffs and their families in personal injury and wrongful death matters.

Her philosophy is that the clients come first and justice must prevail to the fullest extent possible for every client. Communication is paramount between the clients and the law firm team. Vigorous representation is necessary in all parts of a case, but it must be done right and with integrity. If those are at the forefront of the representation, the results will come.

In her early years, she practiced at a firm that only focused on complex medical negligence cases. She then moved to a law firm that practiced the gamut of personal injury and wrongful death cases, including auto accidents, premises liability, construction negligence, products liability, and medical negligence. She was a partner and owner at her prior firm and now runs her own practice.

Trial Experience: Mariam has first-chaired numerous jury trials to verdict in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, and Federal Court in Chicago. In November 2022, she secured a record-setting $3.3 million dollar medical malpractice jury verdict involving podiatric negligence, which was the highest podiatric malpractice verdict in the entire country. In 2018, she and her former partner won a record-setting $15.2 million dollar construction negligence jury verdict in Chicago. She has also secured six-figure soft tissue verdicts for her clients in ultra-conservative DuPage County in both auto cases and premises liability cases. Most recently, she obtained a $4 million verdict for the wrongful death of an 81 year old woman in Cook County, on behalf of her loving family. The jury awarded exactly what Mariam asked for.

Appellate Experience: Mariam has extensive appellate experience, as well. She has successfully briefed, argued, and won appeals in the First and Second Districts, and has argued before the Illinois Supreme Court in Springfield.

Mariam was awarded the prestigious Northern Illinois University College of Law Young Alum of the Year Award for 2020. This award is bestowed to graduates who have made outstanding achievements early in their careers and for their dedication to the College of Law. Mariam has been peer-selected as a SuperLawyers Rising Star every year since 2019, an achievement bestowed on only 5% of attorneys. For 2024 and moving forward, she is now a SuperLawyer.

Outside of the office, she is a proud mom to her son and a wife to her husband, a Chicago Police Officer. She is an active member of the NIU Law Alumni Council and a parent member of the Local School Council (LSC) for her son's Chicago Public School.
