Hired Law firm 2018-2020My daughter was involved in a car accident due to someone else's carelessness. She was 17 at the time of the accident. She was injured, very much scared and traumatized. We were facing a long and painful process of dealing with the guilty party's insurance company, bureaucracy and overall complex journey to prove my daughter's right. After all, she was still underage. I knew that Shay & Associates is the best law firm in Springfield, IL, specializing in bringing lawsuits against negligent businesses and people with proven track of record in obtaining settlements and winning jury trials. I was a client myself 17 years ago, when I approached Mr. Shay to take my car accident case. My case was handled in the most efficient and professional manner. I had received a well deserved settlement. Without a doubt, we had called Shay & Associates to represent my daughter in her injury case. Mr. Shay and his assistant Corey Taylor met with us and thoroughly collected all the details. Since day one, they truly cared about the outcome, stayed on top of every new inquiry or detail. They ensured we understood our position at every stage. I highly recommend Shay & Associates law firm and Mr. Shay in particularly. He is a mighty attorney, who can build and win your case. Professional and honest approach will guarantee you will get every dollar you deserve.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
