Verified ClientHired Law firm 2025-2026I started my divorce case with a different law group. During the process, my original attorney was replaced with someone younger and less experienced. He seemed like a good person, but as the case escalated with a flurry of motions and false accusations, including attempts to block me from taking my children on vacation, I realized I needed an attorney with more litigation experience. Michael Chavsky came highly recommended by a friend, and switching to him was one of the best decisions I made during my divorce. Within a few months, Mr. Chavsky immediately de-escalated the situation and put me in a very strong legal position. He was aggressive when needed, strategic, and fully prepared to enforce every advantage legally available to me. He gave me strong leverage throughout the case and made sure I understood exactly where I stood legally at every stage. Divorce is emotional, and throughout the process he kept me grounded, focused, and thinking clearly when emotions could have easily taken over. That made a huge difference for me personally and strategically. While the situation around me became chaotic and emotionally exhausting at times, Mr. Chavsky always remained calm, prepared, and in control. By the end of the case, I trusted his judgment completely. His staff and secretary were also excellent. Communication was professional, responsive, and organized throughout the entire process, which matters more than people realize during high stress litigation. In divorce cases, you can only control your own actions, not what the other side chooses to do. When constant motions and accusations start flying, costs can rise quickly, but having the right attorney makes all the difference. Michael Chavsky is an outstanding attorney. He is strategic, experienced, calm under pressure, and knows how to handle high conflict litigation effectively. I will likely use him as my attorney for life, and I highly recommend him to anyone facing a difficult divorce or custody battle. If you are facing serious litigation, choose your attorney carefully. You do not want to be sitting on the other side of Michael Chavsky.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
