Firm Information

Overview

Since 1956, our law firm has been there to represent people in Waukegan, Illinois, with many different legal concerns. At Soffietti, Johnson, Teegen, Argueta, Bawcum & Barone, personal injury cases are one of our primary areas of practice. As one of the first personal injury firms in Lake County, our attorneys are deeply experienced with these types of claims and conversations with insurance companies.

We work tirelessly to seek the best possible outcome for our clients in negotiation or litigation. Our law firm handles all types of vehicular accidents, including those involving cars, motorcycles, trucks, boats, metro rail and airplanes. We also represent clients hurt by dog bites, slips and falls, job-related incidents, and medical malpractice.

When we are not representing personal injury and wrongful death victims, we are advocating for people facing criminal allegations. Many of our attorneys are former prosecutors, which gives us invaluable insight into all angles of cases. We use this knowledge to provide defense for violent crimes, drug offenses, sex offenses, property crimes, white collar crimes, traffic violations and driving under the influence. Whether via plea bargain, trial or additional motions, we deliver vigorous representation for clients.

Beyond personal injury and criminal cases, our law firm handles commercial litigation and family law matters. Soffietti, Johnson, Teegen, Argueta, Bawcum & Barone, works with people in Lake and McHenry counties. We take credit cards as payment.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
