Fortitude in Ineptitude Kerry Pangere is a lazy and biased GAL. She prolonged our custody case and inserted herself when she had no reason to involve herself. She takes information from one party and takes it as the truth without doing any investigation. She has dragged out our custody case to try to get a favorable outcome for the other parent. We will be filing a complaint with the Indiana Bar. She can't even get the basic facts of the case correct despite being the GAL for nearly two years. She is a small-town lawyer for a reason. She does not care about the children. She is not objective. She did not follow through on anything. I found information on my own in five minutes where she claimed she was unable to get information or make contact. She is respected in Crown Point as a GAL. After visiting the town, I know that the bar is low on respectability in this one-horse town. She is biased and racist. She willfully believes anything the other parent says and offers no grace to our side. I understand why she would relate to the other parent. The other parent is a low rent version of herself. She empathizes with poor parenting because that is the kind of parent she is. I would hope she would be ashamed of herself and seek some introspection before the outcome of this case, but I know that is hoping for too much from a small-town lawyer like her. Remember, even the bottom half of a graduating class can become attorneys. Her laziness, ineptitude, and biases have put the children in a worse position than they were in before. She encourages parental alienation to the other party and the children. She has no inherent power but acts as if she is the court. She barks orders at us as if we have to listen to her. She makes judgements and questions our parenting decisions. She has undisclosed and improper contact with the children and with the other parent. She is not a social worker or a therapist but makes sweeping statements about serious psychological conditions and mental health concerns. She has a bloated sense of self-worth and self-importance. She is a lawyer in a town in the middle of cow country in Indiana. I know she must feel like a big fish in a small pond. She is the worst lawyer I have come across and I come from a family of lawyers. She has recently come unglued in a spectacular fashion in emails because we are not going to bend to her. She probably won't recognize who I am because she is just that clueless. This is an ongoing case (nearly two years). I'll be sure to come back and update once it is over. The longer it goes on the more evidence we have against her. I welcome her continued ineptitude and unprofessionalism. It'll be her undoing.

This unprofessional and personal attack on attorney Pangere is from an out of state witness, who was overly interested in a case in which attorney Pangere was appointed by the Court to represent innocent children. This individual was not a party to the case.

Kerry states I am "out of state witness" who was "overly interested" in a case. Let me be clear. I am the stepmom to the child in question. My husband (the party) and I are both out of state, as neither of live in Indiana. I have been the stepmom since the child was 18 months old. It speaks volumes that "Attorney" Pangere is describing me this way. She was barely interested in this case, so my interest must seem like a lot. How can I be overly interested when you have never spoken to me? The only thing I have done is leave reviews for you after the fact.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
