Hired Attorney Mitchell Adam Swedarsky 2015-2016
In 2016 I was a 24 year old young man with no history or knowledge of the court system and this man was my public defender. He showed little no care in the two years of my on going case we talked once and not even after the many pre trials did we stop and talk about my case after our initial meeting which was only did you do it, no ok? He then convinced me to take a bench trial saying the only difference was less people when there was definitely a more to such a important thing considering what I was facing when we got to court he didn't cross examine any of the 4 so called witnesses and only spoke to me and asked the same exact question the prosecutor asked and only allowed yes or no answers after the I was found guilty 3months of me in jail on dialysis he comes to me outside of holding before we go into sentenceing and says I didn't know about my condition or that there was a tube in my stomach at one point then begged my now mentally broken self to say he did his job and he would help with sentence we then go out and I got sent to prison on top of a life degrading sentence. It was a story no evidence whatsoever and my life and credibility destroyed forever do not trust this man with your life he will destroy it and laugh with the prosecutor right after

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
