Overview

Dan grew up in Lawrence and Franklin Townships in Indianapolis. The son of a police officer and bank teller, Dan's upbringing included being taught (often the hard way) the value of hard work, fundamental fairness and an appreciation for taking charge of your own future. After graduating high school, moving out of his parents' home for a year of learning a little something of the real world, Dan managed to get accepted to Ball State University. Excelling academically, even earning an undergraduate Fellowship, Dan began saving his earnings from employment in his dorm's dining service with hopes of earning more than just a Bachelor's Degree. Following his Ball State University graduation, Dan applied to law school at Valparaiso University, was accepted and ultimately graduated near the top of his class in 1990.

Dan opened his law firm in 1990 with the idea that everyone deserves a good lawyer and those whose freedom is at stake, deserve the best lawyer. Practicing criminal defense exclusively since the firm was founded, Dan has acted as lead defense counsel in over 4,000 criminal cases. His experience includes defending persons charged with serious crimes like murder and robbery and misdemeanor crimes like drunk driving and minor drug offenses. Dan has practiced all over Indiana in our State Trial Courts, the Indiana Appellate Courts and before the Indiana Supreme Court. Few lawyers have that breadth of experience and fewer still have that level of experience in such a narrow field.

Dan has served as Judge pro temp or special Judge in multiple counties and has presided as Judge over cases as serious as murder and as common as possession of marijuana and driving while suspended. Dan defends persons accused of crimes, anyone whose gun rights or driving privileges are in jeopardy, anyone whose record should be expunged and anyone being investigated by the police, state, local or federal.
