Overview
Jim Buddenbaum is a partner with the Indianapolis office of Parr Richey Frandsen Patterson Kruse LLP where he concentrates his practice representing businesses in all respects including in utility, real estate/zoning and employment law. He chairs the firm’s utility law section.
Mr. Buddenbaum is experienced in representing all types of utilities, including electric generation and transmission utilities, rural distribution cooperatives, sewer, water and gas utilities. Mr. Buddenbaum has also represented telecommunication clients before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and federal courts on issues related to the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and state specific matters. He regularly negotiates large energy sale and purchase agreements, real estate transactions, and has successfully presented more than fifty zoning and land use petitions in dozens of counties and cities throughout the state of Indiana for public utilities. He also represents the firm’s clients in matters of employment and labor law.
Mr. Buddenbaum has distinguished himself by having litigated large-document, complex commercial utility, bankruptcy and anti-trust matters. He has tried a case to a verdict in excess of $1 million and practices before state and federal courts and administrative agencies including the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Mr. Buddenbaum’s industry and community responsibility is reflected in his representation of unique and innovative utilities including his participation on the legal committee which established ACES Power LLC, an energy and power trader, his work with public utilities utilizing self-sustaining wetland technology, and landfills which sell their methane byproduct to direct users.
