Lainie (she/her/hers) is an empathetic, compassionate and skilled professional and is committed to providing high-quality legal services for the unique needs of families for nearly 25 years. Lainie is a Certified Family Law Specialist (Certified by the Family Law Certification Board) and has been a partner with Ruppert & Schaefer P.C. since 2014. A polished federal and state litigator, Ms. Hurwitz never hesitates to go to trial when it is in the best interests of her clients. As a court-registered Domestic Relations Mediator, she also seeks effective resolutions to conflicts outside court by offering creative solutions. Ms. Hurwitz is frequently appointed to serve as a Parenting Coordinator for high-conflict cases and as a Guardian ad Litem, representing the best interest of children in various domestic related cases. Since 1998, she is authorized to practice in all the state courts of Indiana and the United States District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in business in 1995. Thereafter, she completed her doctorate in law at the University of Dayton School of Law, Ohio, in 1998. Staying involved in the legal community is essential to Ms. Hurwitz. She is President of Indiana's Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), and an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association Family Law Section, the Hamilton County Indiana Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. She also served among the board of directors of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.
