Consulted Attorney 2025I consulted with Ms Pryor in May, 2025. I asked her to read a motion that I had intended to present in Carroll Co. KY courts asking for visitation with my minor grandchild. His parents, the child and I lived in the same home over 4 yrs and he was taken away by his mother. All the details were in this motion which would have taken less than 2 minutes to read. She kept cutting me off and asking me questions, some I had the answer to and some I did not. I tried to explain that I just needed someone to read over the motion and edit it, as well as advising about what other documents I would need to get my case into court. I was willing to pay for these services which could have been directed to an assistant. Unfortunately, she kept cutting me off and by the time I left was in years. I felt she had no empathy, and that I was beneath her. If she had only given me a short time to speak during the consultation, and then explained her point of view. It would have had a much better outcome and I would have left with my self respect whatever her answer was to my request.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
