Overview

Michael O. Nelson is the President of Nelson Law Group LLC. Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Nelson was a shareholder and attorney concentrating on complex environmental and insurance coverage cases, including mass toxic tort suits and Superfund litigation with the national law firm of Hunsucker, Goodstein & Nelson. As a shareholder at Hunsucker, Goodstein & Nelson, he managed the mid-western office in Indianapolis, Indiana; taking the local presence from a mere two cases to over 60 total cases.

At Nelson Law Group LLC, Mr. Nelson represents clients in a wide range of industries, including construction, dry cleaning, property management, development, foundries, metal working and oil distribution.

Mr. Nelson works with clients, consultants and regulatory agencies to contain client liability and to obtain site closure in hazardous waste cases. He has obtained successful outcomes in multi-party coverage litigation to win substantial policy benefits for a number of clients. Mr. Nelson has represented clients throughout Indiana, including the communities of Anderson, Richmond, Muncie, Greensburg, Brazil, Ft. Wayne, Evansville, Logansport, Gary, Whiting, Demotte, Ossian, Lynn, Thorntown, and Rushville, as well as Indianapolis. Mr. Nelson has also worked on behalf of local governments to investigate and remediate contaminated properties within their borders.

Prior to joining Hunsucker Goodstein & Nelson PC in 1996, Mr. Nelson worked as a legal intern in the San Francisco District Attorney’s office handling research on civil and criminal environmental issues, and as a law clerk for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX in San Francisco, in the area of Clean Water Act enforcement. Mr. Nelson was also previously a California State Senate Field Representative in the office of State Senator Lucy Killea.

In his spare time, Mr. Nelson volunteers with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic and other local organizations.
