Attorney Information
Overview
I graduated from Coe College in 2014 with a degree in Economics and Political Science. After completing my undergraduate studies, I worked for a district congressional office assisting the constituents of Iowa's first district with various issues including immigration and veterans' affairs. In 2019, I was admitted to Drake Law School. In my time at Drake, I clerked for the a juvenile court judge, the Iowa Court of Appeals, and practiced as a student with the Iowa Appellate Defender's Office and the Iowa Attorney General's Office. While at the Appellate Defender's Office, I drafted the brief in State v. Stevens, 970 N.W.2d 598 (Iowa 2022), a case on Fourth Amendment law. As a student practice intern at the Iowa Attorney General's Office, I argued before the Iowa Court of Appeals. During my last semester of law school, I began working at Carr Law Firm as a law clerk.
I graduated from Drake Law in 2022 and was admitted to practice law in Iowa in the same year. I have been an associate at Carr Law Firm since being admitted. My practice has focused primarily on criminal law, juvenile law, and post-conviction relief. I particularly enjoy practicing appellate law and I am passionate about zealously advocating for my clients whether at trial or on appeal.
I spend my spare time with family and friends, reading, and antiquing.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
