Hired Attorney 2022Review of Sean McGivern attorney at law for Grabill & Hazlewood Wichita, Kansas. I am writing this review to recognize the efforts of Sean McGivern, Attorney at Law. I was introduced to Sean by references from local attorneys that provide medical insurance claims assistance but didn’t want to handle a claim of this complexity. I wanted an attorney that was not afraid of big medical insurance companies and their influence in the insurance world. My case was about my employer not providing medical coverage that was part of my employment agreement at the time of my employment. This was spelled out in a written contract agreement presented to me at the time of my employment. The agreement was accepted by me as terms of employment with the company in 2020. After starting work, the human resources department of the company refused to allow me to enroll in the company’s health insurance group plan stating that my employment contract with the company was invalid even though the company had drafted the agreement and was signed by the company’s officer in charge of hiring. After two years of trying to resolve the issue without any solution and hearing from different principles involved that my contract with the company was not valid or enforceable, my back was against the wall, I was a small fish in a big pond. Sean came into the picture and respectively engaged the company’s Attorneys with their legal responsibilities to me and the contract that the company had provided me with at the time of employment. The company settled all my medical claims and allowed me to enroll in the company’s group health insurance plan without any grief. Sean and his abilities as an Attorney helped me settle a very large medical claim and get my medical coverage from the big fish in the pond.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
