Attorney Information
Overview
Michelle L. Eisenmenger opened her own practice after 15 years of practicing solely in family law at a boutique law firm, following her 2003 graduation from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville with a Juris Doctor degree. She is dually licensed in Kentucky and Indiana and has practiced family law in both jurisdictions for the entirety of her career.
Family Law practice requires the duality of compassion and strength. Michelle L. Eisenmenger epitomizes that duality, empathizing with the struggle of her clients in family law disputes, while simultaneously providing the strength and advocacy to achieve the best possible outcomes for them. Unlike many family law attorneys, Michelle L. Eisenmenger went to law school knowing that she wanted to practice family law, having witnessed the struggles of her siblings in their family law disputes and recognizing the positive impact family law attorneys can have during such a difficult time for their clients. Almost 20 years later, she's thankful for choosing that path as her career has been beyond rewarding.
"I witnessed the emotional and financial devastation that can result from divorce as well as disputes over child custody, visitation and support. In each case, I wished my brother or sister could achieve a peaceful and speedy resolution that thought this would be best accomplished by attorneys who consider not only the financial, but also the emotional needs of their clients and their children." -Michelle Eisenmenger
Having since experienced those difficulties personally, Michelle is especially empathetic for her clients and has become an even more zealous advocate for her clients' rights and for peace for families. In 2017, she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a prestigious nationwide organization of only the best family law attorneys, in which applicants must pass rigorous testing and receive approval of existing Fellows of the Academy in order to receive fellowship. She has lectured around the Commonwealth of Kentucky to fellow attorneys since 2006 and is the author of several articles and treatise chapters on family law issues.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2021-2022Michelle was wonderful to work with and saw me through a very high conflict divorce and lengthy custody dispute. She, along with her assistant Christina always provided clear, timely communication and addressed my concerns quickly and effectively. Michelle was willing to listen, and always took into consideration my concerns. With her representation I was able to settle my divorce and gain sole custody of my two small children. I would highly recommend her to any of my friends or family members.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
