Hired Attorney 2019Accepted retainer of $1500, did not do the work or return calls. I sent the only copy of a handwritten will and he didn't pick it up from the post office - fortunately, I got it back. I also got American Express to refund my retainer. His license has been suspended. Do not recommend under any circumstances! The lawyer I retained afterwards was wonderful and cost much less.

Hired Attorney 2019This good for nothing stole my money . He lead me to believe I had to pay in full before he could start on my case. He did mention he had child support payments to make. He was fakeing all along. Service date ended when he got arrested.

Hired Attorney 2017-2019Is indefinitely suspended, still under investigation. Owes me $7,500 and thousands more to many of his clients. He is still advertising over the internet. Never hire this attorney. He will give you a free consultation and promises all the work he will do for you and then does nothing. Over 2 years, zero work on my case, no communication, refuses to refund unearned income since Feb. 2, 2019.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
