Hired Attorney 2012-2013Attorney Libby caused me to lose millions of dollars in a divorce settlement and thousands of dollars in spousal support in a divorce. He verified to the Overseers of the Bar that our prenuptial was invalid when he represented me and I lost the benefit alleging he wrote an order having my signature forged on it, to the Overseers of the Bar, after I reported him to the bar for this. I have had the signature on the order he wrote verified forged by a forensic signature examiner. He also wrote in my Divorce Complaint that my husband was the only one interested in our real estate(worth millions of dollars) days after I retained him, unknown to me until two and a half years after. He wanted me to sign off of my marital assets for my abusive husbands benefits. He took nine month to get me court ordered spousal support. .I refused to sign off of my marital assets and he resigned and filed a frivolous lawsuit against for his $44,000 fee that he had stated and written my husband was responsible for. I have corresponded with other women that Libby has misrepresented also. I would definitely not reccomend Libby to abused women.

Hired Attorney 2012-2013Libby wrote on document my abusive husband was only interested in our multi million dollar estate unknown to me until over two years later. Libby wrote an order having my signature forged on it, giving my husband complete contol of our numerous businesses, properties and finances leaving me with no funds to live on or funds for a lawyer. Libyy wrote to the Bar that our prenup was invalid when he represented me and I lost the benefit reporting him for his legal malpractice, after I reported him. I was left homeless, and indigent at age 66 with disabilities caused in a domestictic violent marrige.Libby charged me $ 45,000 working for my husband's benefits.Later filing a frivolous lawsuit against me for his fee when he had told me and written in orders my husband would be responsible for his fee. I would deffinitely not reccomend him to abused women.

Hired Attorney 2016Gene Libby was my lawyer between my husband's arrest for domestic violence and my divorce. The minute the divorce was final I transferred to a local lawyer who is a decent human being as well as who has my interests at heart. It is not the 29 of abuse during my marriage that triggers me now, but the treatment from Libby. He in no way protected me, ignored my voice in every way and at every opportunity, seemed to be in league with my ex's lawyer against me, and charged more than $100,000 for about five months, during most of which I could not get him to return my emails. Women, beware.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
