Hired Attorney 2006Please do not work with this attorney she had the evidence at the time of trial to prove that the day my terminated employee said I assaulted her I was in Ohio and because I didn’t pay her all her money at the time she did absolutely nothing to defend me I was found guilty and she had witnesses at the time she could have put on the stand but didn’t call any witnesses please don’t hire her I took a lie detector test and passed it 4 times I

Hired Attorney 2020I hired Kathleen to work on my restraining order case which was initially a retaliation case due to me putting one on the petitioner first. When I hired her, she felt fairly confident this case could be easily dropped, she understood I wanted this case dropped or dismissed as soon as possible so it can clear my record. I initially lost the case so I decided to hire a lawyer to appeal and get the case dismissed. She called me two days prior to the court date, with a complete different conversation than what our goal was. She strongly suggesting just to consent and wait a year to get it sheild I told her no, if that was the case, I could’ve just waited a year and try to get it shield myself and saved my money. This really wasn’t a difficult case, I had witnesses, text messages, more physical proof to prove I’m innocent. I can go on about more events that gave me HUGE red flags about kathleen during this process but it’s not worth taking too much out of my time. Lastly, She insisted this was a great result and I should be happy. Happy about what?! I’m a mother of two that can no longer provide for my kids now because I had to admit that I did harm on a person that I actually didn’t do so now I can’t get a job with that ridiculous charge on my record. She practically defended the petitioner instead of me, if anything. I definitely left the office, extremely disappointed and infuriated, most of all with regret. If you have a restraining order held against you, go somewhere else because she’s just going to tell you to take the charge and move on with your life.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
