    Consulted Law firm 2020
    Recommends this Law firm
I recently scheduled an appointment to meet with Attorney K. Lynn Carter. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to sit down and talk over my concerns with her. I was very anxious about an upcoming appointment with the SSA. Attorney Carter reviewed my concerns and then provided sound professional advice on how to prepare for my upcoming appointment. She gave me a step-by-step outline on how to prepare for my meeting. I am glad to say that as a result of my consultation my meeting with SSA turned out well. The sound advice/guidance provided by Attorney Carter truly gave me a ......"Peace of Mind" that I did not have before our meeting. I had a positive outcome after meeting with SSA. I am so relieved knowing that The Carter Law Firm is an available source of legal help if ever I need legal help in the future. I love that she has an office right here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This location is very convenient for me. I would definitely recommend scheduling an appointment with The Carter Law Firm for anyone in need of legal advice or legal representation.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
