    Hired Law firm 2022-2023
    Recommends this Law firm
I cannot say enough positive things about Edith Thomas. Going through a lawsuit with a work situation is super stressful, but Edith has a calming but firm temperament that makes an incredibly stressful situation more tolerable. She is also a total rockstar with opposing counsel. She knows the facts, is quick to pick up on nuances of the case, and is able to withstand when the opposing counsel completely melts down. She was truly amazing to watch and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to work with her.

    Consulted Law firm 2021
Mr. Zipin charged me for consultation fee, but he never provided a conclusion on his counseling and he never answered my questions with regard to the case. Unfortunately I have seen lack of responsibility from their law firm. As I understood, It becomes a habit for some attorneys to charge their clients and provide poor counseling or lack of responsibility.

We are sorry to hear about your experience. Mr. Zipin charged you at half his customary rate as a professional courtesy to you. He had additional email and telephone communication with you at no additional cost, and he explained why he was unable to help in your situation. We are sorry that you did not appreciate the frank assessment of your case and professional advice provided by Mr. Zipin.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
