Hired Law firm 2016-2017Hi I rate you a ZERO, Mr Christman. You lured me and lied to me. After you got my money you did not carry out the duty you agreed to that I paid him extra to perform $2000 to file the objection to the mortgage claim in a Chapter 13 case. I got angry when after 5 months he had not file it. I reported him to the Judge. A few days before the hearing on my complaint about him, he motioned the court to withdraw the court granted the motion and he never returned any of the money. The attorney grievance commission of Maryland closed my complaint. It is my belief it is because his former attorney, Attorney Erin Risch, who held a key position with the AGC was friends with Lydia Lawless, then Bar Counsel. He should be disbarred he admitted to the AGC that for a period of 10 years, he failed to safe keep clients’ funds and obstruction of Justice. For the admission he agreed to a reprimand. This attorney does not deserve the special treatment he has received because he returned to his same crooked behavior. He is the “R” “Ep” and “P” of bankruptcy. Court records and internet reviews show he has left so many of his clients, who trusted and paid him, behind as victims in the dust of his criminal conduct. Stay far away from this attorney and his firm even if you only want to file a chapter 7. He’s dangerous and needs to be stopped. He is aware that I am very dissatisfied with his service as late as this year he has refused to provide me with the proof that he is justified in keeping the $2000.00 I paid him. He says this matter is closed. It may be closed for him, but not for me until he provides me with an accounting of my money or return the unused portion. If this review is published I ask anyone who feels cheated by this man to file a complaint with the AGC, the Justice Department and the Judge. It’s time. Iris McClain

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
