Overview
Mr. Chicas’ focus is on complex removal defense cases before the immigration courts, including custody/bond redetermination and contested removability hearings. He has successfully represented clients in obtaining relief from removal in court through various avenues, including applications for asylum, withholding of removal, and protection under the Convention Against Torture, as well as applications for adjustment of status, TPS, NACARA, DACA, LPR/Non-LPR cancellation of removal, and criminal and non-criminal waivers of inadmissibility.
The Baltimore Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals have granted in absentia and sua sponte motions to reopen that Mr. Chicas has filed on behalf of his clients, and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has approved stays of removal and prosecutorial discretion requests that he has filed for his clients’ benefit.
Maryland immigration lawyer Jimedes Chicas has also secured the approval of affirmative immigration benefits for his clients, including family based immigrant visa petitions, fiancée petitions, U visa petitions, VAWA petitions, SIJ petitions, petitions to remove the conditions of residence, as well as applications for naturalization and certificate of citizenship.
